About Plate of Cake
At Plate of Cake, we make desserts people remember. Every cookie, cake, and slice that leaves our counter is made with care, and we’re looking for someone who takes real pride in that. This is a small team in a busy shop, so the work is hands-on, fast-paced, and genuinely rewarding for the right person.
What this role is
This is an all-in-one position. On any given shift you’ll be baking, plating, serving customers, prepping ingredients, and cleaning as you go. With only two people on the floor at a time, everyone does everything, and we count on each other completely. If you like variety and hate standing around, you’ll love it here.
What you’ll do
- Bake and prepare our full menu (cookies, cakes, and more) from memory, following each recipe exactly every time
- Keep the shop spotless: stations, equipment, displays, and floors, throughout the shift and at close
- Serve customers warmly and keep the line moving
- Receive deliveries and restock, which includes lifting and moving heavy items (up to 50 lbs)
- Open or close the shop reliably and on time
What we’re looking for
- Punctuality is non-negotiable. When you’re scheduled, you’re here, ready to go.
- Discipline and consistency. We make the same great product every single day.
- A strong memory. You’ll need to know our recipes cold.
- Willingness to put in extra effort when it’s busy or when the shop needs it
- Real care for the craft. You actually want to make people’s day with what you bake.
- Physical stamina for a role that’s on your feet with regular heavy lifting
Requirements
- Prior bakery or baking experience (cookies, cakes, pastries)
- Food Handler / Food Safety certification (must be completed before starting, or completed shortly after hire)
- Reliable transportation and open availability, including weekends
