Position Overview
Ryder Homes is seeking a Senior Estimator & Purchasing Agent to lead estimating, procurement, and cost management across residential projects. This role is responsible for cost accuracy, margin improvement, and coordination across estimating, purchasing, construction, and accounting.
The company is also pursuing growth in new construction sectors beyond residential, and this role will help evaluate costs, build trade relationships, and establish systems to support expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Cost Management:
- Prepare and maintain construction budgets
- Develop base house and option cost structures
- Analyze cost data and trends
- Support feasibility for new sectors
- Identify cost savings opportunities
Purchasing & Trade Partner Management:
- Solicit and award bids
- Build subcontractor/vendor relationships
- Negotiate pricing and contracts
- Evaluate trade performance
Growth & Expansion Support:
- Evaluate new sectors (commercial, multifamily, specialty)
- Develop cost structures and vendor networks
- Provide market intelligence
Systems & Process Management:
- Maintain systems (Hyphen, Sage/Intacct, etc.)
- Ensure cost integration
- Improve scalability and processes
Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Collaborate with construction, sales, finance
- Support field teams
- Assist with variance tracking
Qualifications
- 3+ years in estimating or purchasing
- Experience in residential construction
- Exposure to multiple sectors preferred
- Strong negotiation experience
- Proficiency in construction software
- Strong analytical skills
