What we’re looking for…
Maple Lane Logistics is currently seeking motivated individuals who are interested in building a long-term career in the ocean freight and import industry. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, effective time management skills, and excellent written and verbal communication abilities. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while collaborating as part of a team. We are looking for someone with strong follow-up skills, solid organizational abilities, and professional email communication skills, along with a willingness to learn and grow within the logistics field.
About the Position
Duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
As an Ocean Import Specialist Trainee, you will work closely with an experienced team member and learn how to:
- Handle and own the entire shipping process of assigned shipments.
- Track, trace, and update the status of shipments on a daily basis.
- Prepare, compile, and sort documents for data entry.
- Transfer information from email instructions and a variety of shipping documents into MS Excel spreadsheet, Company system, and cloud files.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our system (GoFreight).
- Maintains effective communication with customers, vendors, overseas agents, other Maple Lane offices, and co-workers through a high volume of e-mails, phone calls, and verbal contact.
- Prepares shipping documents before sending them to customers.
- Monitoring of reports on a daily basis.
- Ensure accurate and timely billing to customers.
- Meets key performance indicators to support the department, branch, product, and overall company goals.
- Understands the operational process flow and constantly seeks improved ways for efficiency.
- Protects confidential information of all customers and the Company
Qualifications
- Strong ability to learn and adapt to new processes
- Attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
- Outstanding time management and prioritization skills.
- Must be flexible with work schedule as occasional overtime may be required based on shipment deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- No OPT or SPT sponsor, must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Excellent computer skills
Education & Experience
- No previous freight experience required, training will be provided
- Degree or Diploma in logistics, supply chain management, business, or related field (preferred).
- Prior office, administrativve, or customer service experience is a plus
- Reading and writing proficiency in a second language (preferred)
