We're seeking a compassionate, engaging Faith Conversation Leader to facilitate weekly Monday evening faith-based discussions for single mothers at our faith-based nonprofit. This meaningful part-time role provides a welcoming space for participants to explore their faith, build community, and encourage one another in a supportive, Christ-centered environment.
Position: Faith Conversation Leader
Location: 2 positions open. 1 opening available at our Byron Center location and 1 at our Grand Rapids West (Westend) location.
Classification: Part-time, up to 5 hours/week
Schedule: Availability required on Mondays from 5:00-8:00 PM during the programming year, with additional remote preparation time as needed
Pay Range: Starting $80/week, based on experience
Job Description & Expectations
The Faith Conversation Leader’s (FCL) primary responsibility is to facilitate small-group biblical conversations with the women we serve. This role is responsible for planning and leading intentional discussions related to motherhood, faith, and Scripture using approved program materials as guidance.
The FCL fosters meaningful relationships, encourages healthy community, and maintains appropriate boundaries while supporting the spiritual and emotional well-being of the women in our program.
The ideal candidate has a heart for ministry with mothers and their children, loves Jesus Christ, and is committed to His Church.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and guidance in a small-group setting for women
- Facilitate Scripture-based discussions and intentional conversations related to motherhood
- Work collaboratively with co-leaders to support the needs and dynamics of the small group
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, including active listening
- Prepare, print, and organize materials needed for weekly programming
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries in all interactions
- Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently
- Attend staff meetings as required
- Perform additional duties as needed to support program operations
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in ministry, social work, counselling, or a related field preferred
- Experience working with single mothers, women’s ministry, or small groups is an asset
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to maintain healthy and appropriate boundaries with participants and their children
- Proficiency in Google Drive and basic office technology
- Reliable personal transportation required for job-related tasks
- Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality concerning all participants of Hope Unexpected
