Welcome to Askinosie Chocolate! We're looking for a production assistant who is ready to perform all required duties associated with the production and packaging of chocolate, as well as the maintenance/upkeep of equipment and facilities. This position reports to the Production Manager.
Requirements:
1. Ability to occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 65 pounds
2. Ability to bend and twist
3. Ability to stand for extended periods of time
4. Ability to work with others in manufacturing/cleaning process
5. Some familiarity with tools/machinery and maintenance tasks
6. Must be available for full shifts on weekends
7. Honesty, punctuality, and strong work ethic
8. Tasting chocolate that contains tree nuts, peanuts, milk products, and wheat/gluten
*Must pass pre-employment background check*
Preferred (but not required):
1. Experience and familiarity with the food production process
2. Experience working under food safety rules and regulations
3. Experience in manufacturing or warehouse facility
4. Forklift/Pallet Stacker certification or experience

Askinosie Chocolate is one of the most decorated small-batch, direct trade chocolate makers, known for pioneering Direct Trade in the chocolate industry and named by Forbes as “One of the 25 Best Small Companies In America.” A small family-owned business with 17 full time employees headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, we began making chocolate in 2007 and have been lucky to help shape the landscape of the American bean to bar chocolate movement. We work directly with smallholder cocoa farmers around the world, visiting them yearly and opening our books to them and sharing profits. Because we believe that doing good and making good chocolate go hand in hand, we’ve also sustainably provided over 1.3 million school lunches to malnourished children in Tanzania and the Philippines with zero donations. And since the day our doors opened, we’ve been operating a program (now a Foundation) called Chocolate University to engage students in our neighborhood as well as students in Tanzania.

Pay: From $15.50 per hour
