Substitute Food Service Worker
Reports to: Director of Food Services Location: District Wide

Classification: Substitute Food Service Worker
Job Summary:
This position will work with a small team to prepare and serve attractive and nutritious meals to students in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness.
Required Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid Washington State Food Worker’s Card
- Ability to communicate effectively, possess awareness (for self and others), listen actively, be patient, incorporate humor/lightheartedness into work, be empathic, possess a growth mindset, and be customer-service oriented
- Proven organizational skills and flexibility
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting, and effectively problem-solve

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to speak Spanish

Knowledge of basic USDA National School Lunch, School Breakfast, Child and Adult Care Food Programs, as well and requirements and nutrient menu standards

Successful experience in a school cafeteria

Successful experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds
Essential Functions:
- Prepares food in large quantities for students that meet nutritional standards
- Help plan menus
- Operates a variety of kitchen utensils to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, grind, stir, strain, season, and knead food for cooking, serving, and storing.
- Operates, cares and maintains institutional kitchen equipment
- Maintains inventory control
- Uses standard office equipment
- Delivers meals to students in an efficient, friendly manner
- Maintains a positive work environment for both colleagues and students
- Maintains a clean work area
- Creates a safe physical and emotional space for students to engage in rigorous academic learning
- Other duties as assigned
Salary: 26-27 substitute salary rate $22.10 per hour to $23.45 per hour depending on experience.
Work schedule: On Call
