Specific Core Function:
The School Maintenance Custodian is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, functional, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors through routine custodial care, light maintenance support, event setup, and exterior grounds upkeep.
Key Responsibilities:
● Perform custodial and light maintenance duties under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor to maintain clean, safe, and functional District facilities.
● Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, stairwells, and other assigned areas using approved cleaning methods and equipment.
● Collect and dispose of trash, recyclables, and other waste materials in accordance with District procedures.
● Operate custodial and light-duty maintenance equipment to support building and grounds upkeep.
● Perform minor maintenance tasks, identify facility concerns, and report repair or safety issues as needed.
● Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, entrances, stairwells, and other designated exterior areas as weather conditions require.
● Assist with setup and breakdown for school events, meetings, and community use of District facilities.
● Maintain assigned work schedules, monitor supply needs, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
● Follow established safety procedures for equipment, cleaning supplies, and materials.
● Maintain regular attendance, work independently, and establish positive working relationships with staff and community members.
● Perform other related duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and use hands to operate tools, equipment, and cleaning machinery. The position may require climbing stairs and ladders, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and performing snow and ice removal.
The employee must be able to frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move heavier items with assistance or appropriate equipment.
Specified Length/Hours of Position:
This is a full time position working 260 days a year 40 hours per week.
Pay: $17.50 - $20.00 per hour
