Noel Technologies, a premier semiconductor foundry operating in Silicon Valley since 1996, is seeking a hands-on and detail-driven Wafer Fab Technician to join our manufacturing team. This role plays a vital part in supporting clean room operations by performing semiconductor processing on silicon wafers, including furnace operation, chemical monitoring, and equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, values precision, and is eager to learn and grow in the high-tech manufacturing space.
NOTE: This position is initially offered on a 3-month contract to hire basis, employment may be concluded at any time during this period. This arrangement provides an opportunity for both the candidate and Noel Technologies to assess mutual fit. Successful candidates may be considered for conversion to a permanent employee status following the completion of the contract period.
Shift Availability Requirements
Position 1:
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 4:00am - 12:30pm
Training Schedule (first few months): Monday-Friday, 12:30pm-9:00pm
Position 2:
Work and Training Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12:30pm - 9:00pm
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process material per Noel Tech procedures.
- Diagnose malfunctions and request repairs. Be able to decipher “error codes” to help diagnose equipment problems.
- Clean & maintain equipment and work area.
- Process wafers per specifications and engineering instructions.
- Place wafers in containers, such as boats /cassettes, using vacuum wand or autoloaders.
- Auto or manually load quartz boats on furnace paddle if needed.
- Be able to operate computers for equipment and observe host computer.
- Observe gauges and meters to verify that the furnace gases and temperature meet specifications.
- Inspect material for surface defects by performing a visual white light or bright light inspection.
- Inspect wafer using testing equipment to measure wafer resistivity, film thickness, & particles.
- Maintain quality and productivity in clean diffusion areas, make suggestions on improvements.
- Maintains diffusion and/or blanket coating records.
- Clean wafers, using cleaning equipment to remove contaminants prior to diffusion or other processes.
- Compiling, calculating or verifying information & data.
- Ensure processes and equipment is running within specification.
- Process troubleshooting and other duties as required supporting fab objectives.
- Enter production information into computer / log book. Maintain diffusion records.
- Maintaining good housekeeping in all work areas.
- Read and accurately fill out Line Lot Travelers.
- Ability to work with a wide diversity of individuals in job related duties.
- Regularly, timely attendance is an essential function of the job.
- This positions primary duties and essential functions take place in the fab.

Requirements:
- Willing to continuously learn and train as needed for job requirements.
- Must be able to perform basic calculations, to operate measurement devices & ability to produce results in a timely manner.
- Ensure reject levels are with-in acceptable standards.
- Troubleshooting, defect reduction and other duties as required to support fab objectives.
- Identify issues and present solutions to maintenance & management.
- Ability to work in a constantly changing environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Work involves making repetitive motions using hands to hold, control wafers or equipment. Must be able to handle wafers with vacuum wands.
- Must be able to work in a wafer fab environment and wear a full cover hood, smock, safety glasses, clean room gloves, face mask and required shoes.
- Physical demand: Often handles load up to 25 lbs. Requires continuous walking and standing.
Working Conditions:
The Wafer Fab Technician works in a sensitive wafer manufacturing environment, wears a cleanroom (bunny suit) which includes: hood, gloves, safety glasses, booties, and masks. May be exposed to hazardous conditions such as chemicals, fumes, and/or gases and loud noise during the course of work day.
Education and Experience:
- Basic knowledge in math and computer skills.
- Understand written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrates attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Well organized and thorough in work habits.
- Work under minimal supervision and adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
- Knowledge of semiconductor processes.
- Flexibility is required to assist in production activities to meet required workload demands.
Safety:
- Adhere to Safety requirements in a clean room environment.
- Working with/around hazardous chemicals – proper safety precautions must be strictly followed.
- Ability to identify dangerous and unsafe conditions in operations and notify management immediately so that corrective action can be taken.
- Comply with Noel’s Safety Policies and Procedure and IIPP (Injury and Illness Prevention Plan) safety practices.
- To wear proper PPE while working in a fab environment.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
