Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare teams.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and cooking.
- Administer medications following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and confidentiality.
- Support individuals in engaging with their community through outings, social activities, and recreational programs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Document care activities meticulously in accordance with facility policies and state regulations, including updating care plans regularly.
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments.
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including assisting with ADLs, medication administration, and patient monitoring.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance to protect client privacy at all times.
- Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and knowledge of emergency response procedures are highly valued.
- Experience caring for individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia (including Alzheimer’s), or memory care needs.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts.
- Excellent observational skills for patient safety and well-being; patience and compassion are essential qualities for success in this role.
