About Liber & Co.:
Liber & Co. is an independent beverage manufacturer based in Georgetown, Texas. We make premium cocktail syrups and sell to retailers and distributors, to bars and restaurants, and through e-commerce.
We manufacture and fulfill our products from our Georgetown facility, and we are looking for an experienced Warehouse Manager to take ownership of our warehouse and fulfillment operation.
Overview of the Role:
We are looking for someone who will actively run the warehouse.
This is a physically demanding, hands-on management position responsible for the people, processes and day-to-day execution behind order fulfillment, shipping and receiving, inventory handling, warehouse organization and routine warehouse maintenance.
You will lead a small team of hourly warehouse employees and be responsible for making sure work gets done correctly, efficiently and on time. You should be comfortable setting expectations, holding people accountable, solving problems and improving the way the department operates.
This is not a desk-only management job. Our warehouse team is lean and the Warehouse Manager will work alongside the team - packing orders, operating material-handling equipment, receiving shipments and tackling whatever needs to get done.
The right person will take pride in having a warehouse that is organized, clean, safe and running well.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership
- Directly manage and develop hourly warehouse employees.
- Assign daily priorities and make sure the team understands what needs to be accomplished.
- Set clear expectations for productivity, quality, attendance, safety and workplace conduct.
- Coach employees, give direct feedback and address performance issues promptly.
- Build a team culture that is positive, accountable and productive.
- Conduct regular check-ins with employees and identify opportunities for training and development.
- Help hire, onboard and train future warehouse employees.
Order Fulfillment
- Own the day-to-day execution of parcel and wholesale order fulfillment.
- Ensure orders are picked, packed, verified and shipped accurately and on schedule.
- Balance staffing and priorities between parcel orders, wholesale orders, pallet shipments and other warehouse work.
- Step into order packing and other fulfillment work when workload requires it.
- Identify bottlenecks and improve warehouse flow, picking, packing and staging processes.
- Maintain high standards for shipment accuracy and packaging quality.
Receiving & Inventory
- Oversee inbound deliveries of ingredients, packaging materials, finished goods and warehouse supplies.
- Verify quantities and condition against shipping documentation and properly document discrepancies or damage.
- Ensure received materials are identified, recorded and put away correctly.
- Maintain an organized warehouse with clearly defined storage locations.
- Ensure FIFO, lot tracking and other inventory-control procedures are consistently followed.
- Monitor warehouse and fulfillment supplies and reorder as needed.
- Participate in physical inventory counts and cycle counting as needed.
Warehouse Operations
- Maintain a clean, orderly and safe warehouse, fulfillment room, loading areas and docks.
- Ensure routine cleaning and warehouse maintenance tasks are completed, and update their completion in all relevant software.
- Keep aisles, work areas, equipment and storage locations organized.
- Operate and maintain forklifts, pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment as needed.
- Ensure employees follow PPE, footwear, forklift and other workplace safety requirements.
- Identify damaged equipment, safety concerns and maintenance needs and make sure they are addressed.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound pallet freight and daily UPS, FedEx and USPS carrier pickups.
- Work with the Operations Manager on warehouse layout, equipment and process improvements.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Use systems such as ShipStation, Notion, barcode scanners and inventory/fulfillment tools as part of daily warehouse management.
- Make sure required tracking, logs and operational records stay current.
- Create or improve simple systems that make work easier to execute correctly.
- Train employees on procedures and ensure established processes are actually followed.
- Track meaningful warehouse performance measures and identify opportunities to improve productivity, accuracy and organization.
- Solve routine operational problems independently and escalate important issues appropriately.
What We're Looking For
We care more about proven ability than a specific pedigree, but a strong candidate will have:
- Several years of warehouse, fulfillment, distribution or similar operations experience.
- Previous experience directly supervising hourly employees.
- A track record of successfully running day-to-day warehouse operations.
- Strong people-management skills—you can build good relationships while still holding employees accountable.
- High personal standards for organization, cleanliness and getting work completed.
- Good judgment and the ability to prioritize work without constant supervision.
- Comfort working with computers and learning operational software.
- Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory management and material handling.
- Forklift experience.
- The ability and willingness to perform physical warehouse work alongside your team.
The Person Who Will Do Well Here
- Gets up early and is eager to start their day.
- Walks through facilities and warehouses and naturally notices what needs attention.
- Is bothered by unfinished work, and is driven to complete it
- Finds an overflowing trash bin to be unacceptable.
- Is eager to dig in to find out why an existing process isn’t working well.
- Helps a struggling employee by immediately engaging with them instead of allowing the problem to linger.
- Welcomes responsibility, decision making, and seeing the direct results of their work.
- Communicates clearly, listens to their team, and treats people with respect.
What Success Looks Like:
Within your first several months
- The warehouse team knows exactly what is expected of them and is being managed consistently.
- Orders are shipped accurately and on time without senior management having to monitor the queue.
- Receiving, inventory movement and lot-tracking procedures are consistently followed.
- Warehouse and fulfillment areas remain clean, safe and organized.
- Routine maintenance and operational are completed and logged.
- We can rely on you to own day-to-day warehouse operations rather than micro-managing you.
- You understand the operation well enough to identify and implement meaningful improvements.
