GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking highly relational and uniquely qualified Preschool Teachers who delight in guiding young students through foundational years of academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. Ideal candidates create structured, nurturing classrooms where students feel safe, known, supported, and encouraged. Teachers take ownership of their subject areas and are committed to delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction within a faith-filled environment grounded in Christian values.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Christian Role Modeling: Interacting with children by modeling positive and frequent affectionate Christian values.
- Student Engagement: Positively engaging and communicating with individual and whole-group students during activities and routines.
- Curriculum Implementation: Implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Parent Communication: Facilitating ongoing parent/guardian communications and conferences to discuss all aspects of student development and goals.
- Classroom Management: Following State of Oregon health and safety rules while supervising children.
- Biblical Integration: Supporting the mission, philosophies, values, and goals of Horizon Christian School and Church.
- Professional Collaboration: Helping create and foster a positive community and atmosphere with all staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, or a closely related field preferred.
- Master’s degree advantageous.
- Preschool or elementary teaching experience preferred.
- Ability to uphold the school’s Statement of Faith.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills with a calm, confident classroom presence.
- Ability to nurture and connect with students with patience and encouragement.
- Clear, patient communication with relational strength.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and professionalism.
SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP:
- Serves as a role model in speech, actions, and attitude consistent with a daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- Models personal spiritual growth and a relationship with Christ.
- Demonstrates respect and care for students under all circumstances.
- Follows Matthew 18 principles when addressing misunderstandings.
- Accepts and teaches the God-given worth of each student as created in His image.
