Responsibilities
- Assist with daily bookkeeping tasks including data entry, account reconciliation, and journal entries using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, and other financial systems
- Support accounts payable and receivable processes by processing invoices, payments, and tracking outstanding balances
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy between bank statements and company records
- Help prepare financial reports and summaries by compiling data from spreadsheets and accounting software
- Maintain general ledger accuracy through regular review and account analysis in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Support payroll processing activities, ensuring timely and accurate employee payments
- Assist with month-end closing procedures including balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis
Qualifications
- Prior experience or coursework in accounting or finance is preferred but not required; a strong desire to learn is essential
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar systems is highly desirable
- Knowledge of basic financial concepts including debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation
- Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for data management and report writing
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Ability to perform 10-key typing accurately for data entry tasks
- Basic understanding of governmental accounting or non-profit accounting is a plus but not mandatory
