Position Summary
Join the City of Kirksville's Utility Maintenance team as a Customer Service Representative. In this hands-on role, you'll help ensure accurate utility billing and reliable water service by reading water meters, maintaining and installing water meters, investigating water usage concerns, and providing excellent customer service to residents and businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Read water meters and report usage information for monthly utility
- Connect and disconnect water service at stop box and inspect for proper operation
- Determine abnormal water consumption patterns, analyze possible causes, and perform necessary repairs
- Perform maintenance on water meters and replaces defective meters
- Install residential and commercial water meters
- Assist with delinquent utility collections by delivering notices and performing service shutoffs
- Investigate in-house plumbing from the meter end for leaks
- Check valves and plumbing at meter locations and meter hookups and performs necessary repairs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Missouri Commercial Class "A" motor vehicle operator's license with tank and air brake endorsements, or ability to obtain
- One year of experience in plumbing, water line construction, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Additional Information
- Requires frequent physical labor, including lifting up to 100 pounds
- Work is performed outdoors and includes exposure to weather conditions, moving machinery, and other environmental hazards.
- Rotating standby schedule and emergency call-out response required
