Job Overview:
We are seeking a qualified Maintenance Worker to support the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in St. Croix, USVI. The selected candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of federal buildings, grounds, and facilities in accordance with government requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and facilities, including plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and groundskeeping tasks.
- Respond to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies as directed by the Refuge Manager.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Wear a company-provided uniform and required safety gear while on duty.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in facility maintenance, including skills in plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, electrical, mechanics, and groundskeeping.
- Ability to pass a federal background investigation for work on federal property.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Reliable attendance and the ability to respond quickly to requests and emergencies.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
