The State of New Hampshire, Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services has a full-time/ vacancy for Technical Support Specialist II.
Summary:
Performs analysis and evaluations of various operating systems and related procedures; resolves & troubleshoots various computer system problems; provides timely customer services to various customers within the New Hampshire National Guard (NHNG) and the Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services (DMAVS).
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 5 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in computer science, cyber security, mathematics, or related field.
License/Certification: Valid driver’s license
Other Requirements:
1. Must be able to satisfactorily undergo a State Police records check.
2. Must be available and able to work during mandatory periods due to emergency situations
3. Must be able to travel out-of-state to attend necessary training as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience in customer service and providing courteous and expedient responses.
2. Preference will be given to candidates who possess an honorable discharge from the National Guard or other branches of the Armed Forces and have experience with DOD Information Management systems and DOD Support/Help Desk and computer applications.
AFTER-HIRE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must obtain a CompTia Security+ certification within 6 months after hire as a condition of employment.
2. Must pass a National Agency Check (NAC) to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) used in the performance of assigned work duties within 12 months of hire and be eligible for renewal as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities:
DETAILED TASKS (AGENCY/POSITION-SPECIFIC):
Troubleshoots various computer operating systems and program issues, investigates hardware and software problems to locate and correct malfunctions. Provides services to develop, implement, and coordinate communications infrastructure.
Works in concert with the Department of Information Technology and the Department of Defense to bridge operating and communications systems between the State and Federal Governments.
Provides Help Desk Support to various members of the organization to include DMAVS employees and members of the NHNG. Provides initial set-up and installation of computer hardware and software to include desktop, laptop or hand-held communications devices.
Communicates with users to evaluate system performance, makes recommendations for alternative hardware, and requisitions needed hardware and software. Coordinates the installation of computer hardware and software and conducts tests to ensure system is operating properly.
Analyzes and evaluates current computer training, prepares, schedules, and conducts updated training on a variety of software packages. Develops & distributes various user directives and manuals. Conducts user training on new systems and programs.
Compiles statistical data on system performance for use in administrative plans and policy decision-making. Assists with the development of strategic communications plans for the NHNG and DMAVS.
Develops and monitors security procedures to prevent unauthorized access to system. Provides assistance and coordination for a communications disaster recovery plan for DMAVS.
Contacts various vendors to arrange for service calls to correct problems with various IT equipment.
Travels to various DMAVS locations throughout the state to repair communications equipment or install new hardware. Attends various DMAVS or statewide agency meetings or training as needed and participates as required by providing reports and/or input as requested.
