Position: Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT)
Location: 1214 Coolidge St, Lafayette, Louisiana, 70503
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: 3x12 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Job Summary
The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen therapy, diagnostic testing, and ventilatory support to both inpatient and outpatient populations ranging from neonatal to geriatric patients. The role includes monitoring and weaning oxygen therapy and mechanical ventilation, performing arterial blood gas analysis, EKGs, intermittent therapy, and assisting with artificial airway management while working under physician orders and established clinical protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and advanced respiratory therapy procedures.
- Administer oxygen therapy and ventilator management.
- Monitor and wean patients from oxygen therapy and mechanical ventilation.
- Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Perform EKGs and other respiratory diagnostic procedures.
- Assist with artificial airway changes and respiratory emergencies.
- Educate patients, families, and healthcare staff regarding respiratory treatments.
- Document patient assessments, treatments, and clinical outcomes accurately.
- Provide age-appropriate respiratory care from neonatal through geriatric populations.
- Maintain current knowledge of respiratory therapy practices and attend departmental meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree required.
- Current Respiratory Therapist License in the state of practice.
- Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).
- AHA BLS Certification (Required)
- AHA ACLS Certification (Required)
- NRP is preferred but not required (please provide if available).
Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Experience with ventilators, oxygen therapy, ABGs, and respiratory diagnostics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer proficiency and accurate clinical documentation.
