We are adding an OSP Field Engineer to our team. The location is somewhat flexible as it can be based out of your home. Acceptable residence area is NE Illinois or SE Wisconsin. We have an office/shop in Batavia, IL and Caledonia, MI.
Key Responsibilities/Duties:
- Engineer and design detailed telecom aerial and underground fiber optic route design maps and submit to CAD, includes re-engineering;
- Identification of OSP Construction method including aerial strand/lash, directional boring, trenching and plow;
- Identify and document potential risk factors of selected routes including congested rights-of-way and aerial facilities; Review CAD to insure only proper engineering and design moves forward;
- Identification, coordination and inquiry with AHJ’s (Authorities Having Jurisdiction);
- Compile and verify as-built documentation. Complete pre-construction ride outs with team if requested or required;
- Represent Company with an emphasis on customer satisfaction, identify new business opportunities; establishing and maintaining customer relationships;
- Provide regular status reports to all assigned projects to engineering division management.
Required skills/qualifications
- Familiar with engineering practices, telecom or civil/utility engineering a plus.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong communication skills to successfully collaborate and work with customers, co-workers, leadership, vendors and pedestrians.
- Ability to express self respectively and concisely in oral and written communication typically via face to face interaction, phone call discussions, texts, and emails.
- Ability to schedule and manage time and workload with minimum guidance from supervisor.
Physical demands
- Safely navigate while walking through outdoor terrain.
- Consistently drive safely and defensively, maintaining an acceptable driving record.
- Willing and able to work outdoors and in mild inclement weather conditions such as rain, snow, heat, cold.
- Occasional week day overnight travel required (with per diem)
- DOT Medical Certification, or ability to obtain Med Card in timely manner (with Company assistance)
