Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all dental equipment is ready for procedures
- Assist dentists during examinations and treatments by handing tools, suctioning, and managing patient comfort
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions clearly and empathetically
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) to accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and procedures
- Take diagnostic radiographs (X-rays) following safety protocols to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning
- Monitor patient vital signs when necessary, especially during sedation or complex procedures involving critical care experience
- Maintain strict infection control standards through manual handling of sterilization processes and adherence to safety guidelines
Skills
- Critical care experience with the ability to respond swiftly in emergency situations
- Basic life support (BLS) certification and CPR training to ensure readiness for medical emergencies
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR/EHR management) systems for accurate documentation
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dental procedures and patient care
- Experience with surgical assistance, specialized treatments involving surgical procedures
- Familiarity with diagnostic radiology techniques used in dental settings for imaging purposes
- Strong understanding of manual handling techniques to ensure safety for patients and staff during procedures
