Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Fire and Security Alarm Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems and security alarm systems across various commercial and industrial sites. Your expertise will ensure that life safety systems operate flawlessly, comply with all relevant fire codes and regulations, and meet customer expectations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with fire alarm control panels, sensors, security and low voltage electrical systems while providing exceptional customer service. Knowledge and experience with access control and CCTV systems preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Service and repair fire alarm systems, including proprietary control panels, sensors, and related components, ensuring adherence to building codes and NFPA standards.
- Conduct routine maintenance and testing of fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with fire codes and regulations.
- Read blueprints, schematics, electrical blueprints, CAD drawings, and construction documents to accurately plan system layouts and installations.
- Perform construction inspections to verify proper installation of low voltage wiring, sensors, and other fire safety equipment.
- Troubleshoot engineering issues related to fire alarm systems using electrical experience and engineering troubleshooting techniques.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized testing equipment during installation and service tasks.
- Provide exceptional customer service by explaining system functions, answering client questions, and ensuring satisfaction with all service interactions.
- Maintain detailed records of system inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and system upgrades for compliance purposes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fire alarm system installation, maintenance, or service technician roles within construction or building management environments.
- Minimum 1-2 years knowledge of fire alarm systems including proprietary control panels, sensors, sprinklers, schematics, and NFPA standards.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, electrical diagrams (including NEC standards), CAD drawings, and construction documents accurately.
- Familiarity with building code compliance requirements for fire safety systems is essential.
- Experience with field service operations involving hand tools, power tools such as power drills or saws, and testing equipment.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Electrical experience including troubleshooting electrical circuits related to fire alarms or security systems.

Pay: $34.00 - $38.00 per hour
