Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Billing Auditor to join our healthcare operations team. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive audits of medical billing records, including coding, documentation, and claims submissions to verify accuracy and adherence to medical coding guidelines.
- Review ICD-9 and ICD-10 diagnosis codes, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) assignments for inpatient and outpatient services.
- Ensure compliance with company standards.
- Identify discrepancies or errors in medical records, coding, or billing processes, then collaborate with billing staff or providers to resolve issues promptly.
- Maintain detailed audit logs, reports, and documentation of findings for internal review and external audits.
- Stay current with updates in medical coding standards, EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, and healthcare regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Assist in training staff on proper coding practices, documentation requirements, and billing procedures to improve accuracy across the revenue cycle.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or auditing.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and EHR management for billing and coding purposes. Bonus points for Eclipse EHR experience.
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology principles, and medical record abstraction techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills to identify errors or inconsistencies in complex data sets.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with healthcare providers, billing teams, and external auditors.
Hours and Compensation
- $25 per hour
- Benefits: Health Insurance, PTO, 401K
- Monday - Friday. 8AM - 5PM with 1 hour unpaid lunch break.
