DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
6. State the chief purpose or objective of this position in a brief statement.
This position performs clinical and front desk duties under the direct supervision of provider and or site manager in either oral or written form.
This position performs administrative duties to register clients for services under the direct supervision of provider and or site manager in either oral or written form.
Depending on the amount of staff this employee will either perform registration duties or front desk duties.
Ensures proper records are kept for all clients registered with PVHC.
Front desk reception, answering phones and scheduling appointments.
Greet patients, completion of registration forms, and give instructions.
Calls prescriptions to the pharmacy for provide.
Communication skills using appropriate medical terminology.
Following appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct.
Ensures clients understand the registration process and follows up when a client does not have necessary information to complete application.
Maintains accurate and organized files of all clients registered.
Performs other duties assigned by supervisor within the policies pf PVHC in order to meet the goals and objectives of the dept.
Depending on the amount of staff this employee will either perform patient care duties, phlebotomy duties, and eligibility enrollment duties.
7. Describe the major areas of Medical Assistant responsibilities
Records patient height, weight, blood pressure, pulse and temperature
Assists physician while patient is being examined
Assists physician with minor surgery
Performs simple laboratory results, first aid procedures and administer injections
Administers vaccines
Sterilizes instruments and cleans equipment
Gives instructions to patient on diet, medication or special procedures as indicated by physician
Makes referrals to other providers, ancillary services, organizations or hospitals as indicated
Ensures that exam rooms are clean and stocked
Maintains daily inventory and orders supplies
Assesses patient for appropriate invasive procedure (venipuncture or capillary puncture) and obtains that
sample according to procedure
Collects blood samples in appropriate containers after positive patient identification
Properly labels specimen(s) and completes patient according to established criteria to ensure a positive
patient outcome
Verifies identity of samples with orders and processes laboratory specimen(s) as indicated
Record and scan lab results into EMR
Routes specimens to appropriate test site
Have knowledge on all programs related to PVHC
Assists Provider on Mobile Unit as needed
Other responsibilities assigned by supervisor or provider
Verifies current patient information in the EMR system and pre registers new patients and enters pertinent patient information into the system
Collects payments from patients
Upon request prepares daily schedule of patient appointments and notifies clinical staff of changes
Upon request, coordinates information pertaining to prescriptions, refills, lab reports, etc. with physician and patients
Assists patient with registration applications and insurance forms as indicated
Processes authorizations for referrals and medications as needed by patients
Provides proper verification of Medicare/Medicaid and other third party insurances
Helps Process Medical Records
Scans all mandatory forms into EMR
Addresses bump list to keep patient scheduling current

8. Describe the major areas of responsibility for eligibility enrollment
Gather appropriate data to determine client eligibility into PVHC system and identify proper funding sources.
Enters information into EMR and provides client with registration card.
Scan applications into EMR within 24 hours of completing the registration process.
Revalidates clients information on a yearly basis or if there is a change in status for the patient.
Rotate with other registrations clerks on the mobile unit off sites for pre-registration.

Ability to communicate effectively
Familiarity with modern office and medical equipment; knowledge of principals and application of medical ethics; knowledge of legal requirements for physicians; medical terminology; manual dexterity necessary for clinical and laboratory procedures
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Bilingual, ability to speak and comprehend both English and Spanish.
