THE ROLE:
The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving beverages in a hospital café environment while delivering a positive and supportive experience to patients, visitors, and staff. This role emphasizes consistency in beverage preparation, adherence to health and safety standards, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace within a healthcare setting.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous barista or food service experience
- Experience in a healthcare or hospital setting
- Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP principles)
- Familiarity with POS systems
MAIN FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based beverages, tea, and other drinks according to standardized recipes
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment in compliance with hospital and food safety standards
- Ensure proper use, care, and basic maintenance of coffee equipment and café work areas
- Restock beverage supplies and monitor inventory levels to support daily operations
- Follow all infection control, hand hygiene, and workplace safety protocols
- Maintain a calm and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff
- Identify and report equipment issues or operational concerns to leadership
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Standing for long periods
- Early morning, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required
- Fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment
REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
PREFERRED:
- Prior barista or food service experience
- Experience working in a healthcare or hospital setting
- Knowledge of food safety standards
