Under the direction of the Food Service Director or Assistant Food Service Director, the Food Service Aide supports daily kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation, meal service, sanitation, and tray delivery. This role is essential in ensuring residents receive safe, nutritious meals in a timely and compassionate manner.
The Food Service Aide may perform some or all of the following duties, as assigned:
Assist in the preparation of meals, snacks, and beverages
Assemble meal trays according to diet orders and portion standards
Deliver and transport food trays and carts to and from resident units
Label and distribute nourishments to appropriate floors or residents
Clean and sanitize kitchen work areas continuously throughout shifts
Wash, store, and maintain kitchen equipment and supplies
Operate equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and facility procedures
Follow proper food handling, storage, and disposal procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations
Adhere to infection control policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Follow special handling procedures for modified diets and resident-specific trays
Monitor kitchen and storage areas for cleanliness, safety hazards, or pest activity and report concerns promptly
Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure resident needs are met
Assist with preparation for state surveys and participate in required training
Attend in-service education and apply learned practices to daily duties
Report any workplace injuries or incidents immediately to a supervisor
