Job Summary
The Fleet Mechanic II independently performs a wide range of maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty tractors, trailers, and tire systems. This role requires solid technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 - Depending on experience
Duties
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
- Perform brake repairs, suspension work, wheel end service, and tire repairs
- Troubleshoot engine performance issues and perform component replacements
- Complete DOT inspections and ensure fleet compliance
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify faults
- Accurately document repairs, parts usage, and labor hours
- Assist in training and mentoring Mechanic I employees
- Maintain tools and ensure adherence to safety standards
- Assist management in additional ad-hoc projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Technical or diesel mechanic certification preferred
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, air brake systems, and trailers
- Ability to read schematics and service manuals
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or ability to obtain
Experience
- 2–5 years of heavy-duty fleet maintenance experience
