Position Overview
We're looking for a Director of Sales who thrives in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, self-motivated, and passionate about relationship-building and results. You will be the sole sales leader at the property—responsible for generating and managing corporate, leisure, and group room sales from prospecting through contract execution.
This role is highly incentive-driven, with uncapped commissions tied directly to room night production through your efforts. While Hilton experience is preferred, it is not required. The successful candidate must be willing to learn Hilton sales and property management systems within the first 3–4 months, with full training support provided.
You'll work closely with our General Manager, Revenue Manager, and Front Office team to ensure all bookings are managed efficiently and every guest experience exceeds expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively prospect local businesses, healthcare organizations, sports teams, government agencies, associations, and leisure markets to generate new corporate and group room bookings.
- Build strong relationships within the Lakeland community through networking events, chamber memberships, local organizations, and client visits.
- Be visible both in the community and at the hotel by engaging with guests and identifying new business opportunities.
- Develop and manage negotiated corporate rates and promotional packages to maximize occupancy and average daily rate (ADR).
- Ensure all bookings, contracts, and group details are entered accurately into Hilton sales and property management systems.
- Lead all sales reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and account management activities.
- Develop local marketing initiatives, strategic partnerships, and promotions that support direct booking growth.
- Prepare proposals, contracts, and group communications while coordinating with hotel operations to ensure seamless execution.
- Collaborate with Operations to ensure an exceptional guest experience from booking through departure.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hotel sales experience (Hilton experience preferred but not required).
- Proven ability to generate new business through proactive sales, networking, and community involvement.
- Strong understanding of hotel revenue management principles and sales strategies.
- Experience managing corporate accounts, group business, and negotiated contracts from prospecting through execution.
- Experience with Hilton systems (OnQ, RFP tools, Delphi, or similar hotel sales systems) is an asset; training will be provided.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the hotel leadership team.
- Passion for hospitality and delivering outstanding guest experiences while achieving revenue goals.
