We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our healthcare team who is willing to work in Bassett, Virginia, and the North Carolina location. Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately.
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to monitor patient health status.
- Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort.
- Support clinical procedures such as medication administration, and basic life support when necessary.
- Maintain precise electronic health records (EHR) systems by documenting patient information, diagnoses, ICD coding, and treatment plans clearly and efficiently.
- Perform routine clinical tasks including specimen collection, and assisting with outpatient procedures.
- Manage medical administrative support tasks like appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and patient follow-up communications to enhance service delivery.
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited program is required.
- Proven experience in clinical settings such as hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of internal medicine, or emergency medicine is advantageous.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and ICD coding for accurate documentation is essential.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology to support patient assessments and procedures.
- Ability to perform intake assessments, measure vital signs accurately, and assist with medication administration safely.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification must be current; additional certifications in X-ray or emergency medicine are a plus.
- Previous hospital experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers or PICU experience will strengthen your application.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations across inpatient and outpatient settings.
