This will be a 3rd shift position: Sunday-Thursday - 11:00pm - 7:30am
Job Summary
Operates either a chromate or a zinc dichromate plating process to produce a non-decorative corrosion protection finish on internal zinc and steel components that will be shipped to customers for final assembly of locksets.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- (30%) Safely operate a 5000 pound forklift to load work in progress into the plating process, and to move finished product to holding/staging area. Performs pre-operation process and equipment safety checks per written instructions to ensure operator and equipment safety. Performs process start up checks of equipment, controls, and plating chemistry per written instructions to ensure plating process is ready to operate within established process parameters.
- (30%) Operates a handheld computer/scanner to enter product information, piece count and container weight into the plant production tracking system. Operates electronic weight scale to perform a piece count of finished product. Completes production tracking documents for each container processed, per written instructions.
- (20%) Operates plating process equipment to load parts into plating barrels, monitor movement through the process, respond to process alarms, and unload parts into containers. Ensures process is running to established rates, troubleshoots and corrects operator level process issues that impede achieving production targets. Records production, issues, and actions on established tracking documents.
- (10%) Performs operator level process and equipment maintenance tasks per written instructions (e.g., partial and/or total process tank drain and refill, dangler replacement, cleaning of process barrels/saddles/tanks, plating filters, minor equipment repair, adjust rectifier settings, cleaning and lubrication).
- (5%) Communicates process issues that are beyond the operator ability to correct, to the plating supervisor and/or to the maintenance lead. Coordinates with the waste water treatment technician for periodic chemistry analysis and plating tank maintenance tasks per written instructions. Assists Plating Engineer/Supervisor as directed.
- (5%) Periodically operates 2 cleaning lines to remove drilling fluid and zinc chaff from drilled zinc parts prior to the chromate plating process.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports any and all safety issues to the plating supervisor.
- Responsible for cleanup of immediate work area, and common areas as assigned.
- Handles and disposes of hazardous waste products in accordance with the plant Hazardous Waste Procedure.
- Responsible for achieving established quantity and quality standards for parts produced.
- Other duties as required by supervisor.
Education and Experience Profile
- High School diploma or equivalent.

- Respirator training and certification will be required, fit testing, and proper care and storage of equipment is needed.

Work Environment:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment and non-climate controlled manufacturing facility.
