Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable part-time Cheesemonger to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service while sharing your love for cheese. You will assist customers at our cheese counter while maintaining and caring for our selection of cheeses. This is a customer-facing tipped position. Must be available weekends.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist guests with cheese, charcuterie, and pairing selections, offering recommendations based on their preferences and needs.
- Take orders from guests in our cafe and checkout area as needed.
- Maintain an organized and visually appealing cheese and retail display, ensuring all products are cared for and displayed properly.
- Create and plate cheese and charcuterie boards to order.
- Handle food safely and efficiently while adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Perform side work including prepping cheese boards, packing and stocking products for the retail area, and ensuring a clean working environment.
Experience
- Previous experience cheesemongering or in the cheese industry.
- Familiarity with cheese varieties and knowledge of food pairings is preferred but not required; a willingness to learn and a hardworking attitude are essential.
- Experience in bar, restaurant, or food service settings is a plus.
- Knife skills and food handling experience are a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively.
- Must be able to stand for hours at a time as well as receive and carry up to 20 lbs.
