Job Overview:
We are seeking an energetic and creative Dance Specialist to lead engaging after-school dance classes for elementary school students. The role focuses on building confidence, creativity, and teamwork while teaching age-appropriate dance techniques and choreography. The selected candidate will also be required to coordinate school performances and showcases throughout the year
Different types of dances covered in this class may include:
- Ballet: A classical dance form known for its elegance, precise technique, and graceful movements.
- Jazz: An energetic dance style characterized by syncopated rhythms, isolations, and expressive movements.
- Contemporary: A fluid dance style that combines elements of ballet, jazz, and modern dance, often expressing emotions and abstract concepts.
- Hip-hop: A street dance style that originated from urban culture, consisting of dynamic moves, popping, locking, and breaking.
- Tap: A percussive dance style that involves creating rhythmic sounds through metal taps affixed to the dancer's shoes.
- Ballroom: A partner dance form that includes various styles like waltz, foxtrot, tango, salsa, and more.
- Latin: A vibrant dance style comprising dances such as salsa, cha-cha, merengue, rumba, and samba.
- Contemporary ballet: A fusion of classical ballet techniques with contemporary movements and elements.
- Bollywood: A highly energetic dance style originating from Indian cinema, characterized by expressive gestures and footwork.
- Modern: A dance form emphasizing free movements, improvisation, and exploration of space, often breaking away from traditional ballet techniques.
- Folk dances: Traditional dances specific to various cultures and regions worldwide, showcasing cultural heritage and customs. This class aims to expose students to a variety of dance styles, allowing them to develop a broad range of skills and knowledge within the realm of dance.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate dance lessons for elementary students
- Teach basic dance techniques, rhythm, coordination, flexibility, and movement.
- Introduce students to a variety of dance styles (creative movement, hip-hop, jazz, ballet, cultural, and contemporary as appropriate).
- Develop lesson plans that align with program goals and learning objectives.
- Adapt instruction to meet the needs of students with different learning styles and abilities
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment.
- Encourage creativity, self-expression, and confidence through dance.
- Motivate students to participate and celebrate individual progress.
- Promote teamwork, respect, and cooperation among students
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching dance to elementary-aged children.
- Knowledge of child development and classroom management.
- Strong choreography and performance skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
- Ability to pass required background checks.
- Passion for youth development and the performing arts
Job Type: Part-time
Salary Range: $30-$40 per hour
Drug Testing:
Staff members are subject to random drug testing throughout the school year.
Schedule:
- 2-3 days a week ( 3-5 pm)

Experience:
- Childcare: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:
- First Aid Certification (Preferred)
