Position Overview
This role supports the Assistant Power and Cable Supervisor in coordinating technicians and ensuring power and cable equipment is repaired, maintained, and ready for use. It helps manage repair priorities, troubleshoot issues, and uphold quality and safety standards while working closely with operations, fabrication, and warehouse teams. The position also supports preventive maintenance, monitors parts needs, and assists with rental operations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Assistant Power and Cable Supervisor in overseeing and managing the Power and Cable Technicians, ensuring smooth coordination of repairing and maintaining SGPS power and cable equipment.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all repair-related issues across depots, prioritizing and scheduling repairs to meet operational demands.
- Oversee the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of all power and cable equipment, ensuring compliance with company quality and safety standards.
- Train, mentor, and support Power & Cable Technicians to improve productivity, technical skills, and adherence to procedures.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose incoming equipment issues, ensuring timely and effective repairs to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all repaired and fabricated equipment meets quality standards before returning to inventory.
- Lead preventive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and lifespan.
- Monitor parts usage and communicate material or inventory needs to prevent repair delays.
- Collaborate with Operations, Fabrication, and Warehouse teams to ensure equipment availability and readiness.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase repair efficiency, quality, and equipment reliability.
- Support rental operations during periods of low repair volume, including cleaning, testing, order pulling and preparing equipment for shipment.
Requirements
- Previous experience in testing, repairing, and maintaining power and cable equipment,
preferably in the entertainment or event industry.
- In-depth knowledge of power and control systems, components, and equipment.
- Strong organizational skills to manage inventory, track usage, and order supplies as needed.
- Effective leadership skills to guide and motivate a team of technicians.
- Ability to prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Technical proficiency in repairing, soldering and building power and cable products.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols in the handling of electrical equipment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and project requirements
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects weighing up to 50-75 lbs. independently and heavier loads with team assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, climb, grip, and reach regularly throughout the workday.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to safely operate tools and equipment.
- Stamina to perform physical tasks for extended periods, often in fast-paced or time-sensitive environments.
- Ability to work in varied conditions, including indoor warehouse environments and outdoor job sites, sometimes in inclement weather.
- Must be able to wear and properly use all required PPE (personal protective equipment), including steel toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses.
- Ability to work in an industrial environment.
Working Conditions
This position is performed in a warehouse environment with seasonal temperature fluctuations, frequent exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment. Shift schedules may include early mornings, late evenings, or weekends depending on business needs.
