Educational and Experience Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, English, Education, or Technical Writing strength in research methodology and familiarity with current research issues as well as APA style. Three years of experience. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Performs complex administrative and supervisory program work for Bill Blackwood LEMIT.
Primary Responsibilities
Assists the Manager in the development of the Leadership Command College (LCC). Directly assists participants within the Leadership Command College with their Leadership White Paper and Leadership Portfolio to include instructing and evaluating specific components for successful fulfillment, and coordination of research process. Coordinates the overall program needs such as scheduling participants, schedule dates on LEMIT calendar, reserves classrooms, negotiates contracts with instructors, develops registration process, order supplies, negotiates hotel room block contract, negotiates banquet and audio-visual services. Coordinates the day-to-day as well as long-term processes associated with the Leadership White paper and Leadership Portfolio associated with the Leadership Command College (LCC). Creates, adapts, and prepares program material and instructional material. Instructs and evaluates graduation requirements. Creates, implements, and maintains documentation necessary. Effectively directs the work of each participant writing the Leadership White Paper and Leadership Portfolio. Contracts subject matter experts (content and technical editors) and manages the flow of papers. Facilitates communication between content and technical editors and participants and contribute analysis and guidance. Analyzes and solves complex technical problems. Interacts successfully with other university departments, LEMIT personnel, the two other Universities in the consortium (Texas A&M and Texas Woman’s University), program instructors, program contractors, and participants of the Leadership Command College. Ability to speak in front of groups and handle classroom management effectively. Assumes independent responsibility for decisions and actions. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Instructs participants; evaluates graduation requirements and components for successful fulfillment; creates, implements, and maintains documentation necessary for the completion of the program. Extensive travel for the programs; plans, arranges, and manages all aspects of travel to and from programs, including travel budgets and expense reports. Coordinates logistics, scheduling, and communication with other programs and creates, adapts, and prepares program material and instruction material. Facilitates communication between experts and participants and contributes analysis and guidance; assists and manages content editors and technical editors and partial responsibility of a student worker. Analyzes and manages budgets and payments for subject matter experts (editors); oversees program inventory; participates with budget planning
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to supervise business functions. Communicates with other university departments, personnel, and other agencies.
