Manufacturing Business Unit Controller for AI Infrastructure Leader

Our client is seeking a Plant Controller - a hands-on, systems-savvy leader ready to take ownership of the day-to-day financial support, elevate cost accounting process, drive operational analysis, financial reporting, controls, and continuous improvement, serving as a key advisor to plant operations and executive leadership.
The Opportunity
You will be at the helm of the full spectrum of plant-level financial management, shaping the rollout of a new manufacturing operation in an SAP environment - from cost accounting and inventory control to financial reporting, forecasting, and strategic business partnership. You'll report to the Senior Controller and partner directly with Operations, Engineering, FP&A & Supply Chain leaders, delivering insights that drive margin, efficiency and growth.
What You'll Do
Operational Finance Support:
- Act as financial business partner to BU General Manager and plant leadership, with on-the-floor visibility on labor, materials, OH
- Assist in presentation of financial results, variance explanations, and forward-looking analyses to senior management and corporate stakeholders
- Adhoc financial planning and forecasting
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Execute/maintain the standard costing system, including material, labor, subcon fees, and overhead cost structures; reconciliation of inventory to balance sheet and ledger accounts
- Lead the analysis of gross margin, cost of sales, inventory trends, turnover ratios, and production yield data
- Support COGS/manufacturing variance, P&L forecast in Adaptive planning tool
- Maintain & strengthen SOX internal controls
Inventory Control
- Plan/execute/reconcile physical inventories and reconciliation to SAP
- Monitor/communicate inventory movement trends & impact to P&L
Reporting & Analysis
- Analyze variances arising from production and purchasing activities, including production order variances and PPV
- Perform product & customer margin analysis; review/reconcile SAP transactions driving BU P&L reporting
- Validate GAAP and non-GAAP P&L results through detailed COS analysis
- Maintain operational reporting & KPI tracking
Systems & Business Process
- Ensure timely monthly close process
- Support standard cost and OH rate updates and annual cost roll
- Drive process improvements, automation, and system enhancements
- Apply ERP best practices, identify/flag process improvement opportunities
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree, with CPA, CMA or MBA highly preferred
- 6+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing finance, ideally with background in ramping up/transforming high-growth plant operations (computer/electronics manufacturing a major win)
- Expertise in SAP
- Deep understanding of standard costing, manufacturing cost structures, and inventory accounting
- Working knowledge of SOX/internal controls
Strong executive communication skills - you can turn complexity into clarity - - liaison effectively with Engineers and Manufacturing Operations leaders
- Exposure to forecasting/planning tool (Adaptive or similar)
