Hair Color Express Dry Bar is a family-owned salon seeking a licensed cosmetologist for a unique front desk-focused position. This role offers the stability of an hourly receptionist position while providing opportunities to continue working behind the chair as business needs allow. You'll receive an hourly wage, earn 40% commission on all hair services you perform, keep 100% of your tips, and never have to pay booth or chair rental fees.
Your primary responsibilities will include managing the front desk, greeting clients, scheduling appointments, answering phones, processing payments, and helping maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming salon environment. Throughout the day, you'll also have opportunities to perform hair services, allowing you to continue building your experience as a cosmetologist while earning additional income through commission.
This position is ideal for a newly licensed cosmetologist, someone returning to the industry, or an experienced stylist looking for a consistent hourly position with opportunities for professional growth and supplemental income.
Responsibilities
Front Desk (Primary Role)
- Answer incoming phone calls
- Schedule and manage client appointments
- Welcome clients and provide friendly customer service
- Answer questions about salon services, pricing, and availability
- Process client payments and maintain accurate daily sales records
- Help keep the reception area and salon clean, organized, and presentable
- Assist with general day-to-day salon operations as needed
Hair Services (As Business Needs Allow)
- Perform haircuts, color services, balayage, keratin treatments, and hair extensions based on your experience and comfort level.
- Shampoo, blow-dry, and style your own clients
- Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation
Qualifications
- Active Maryland Cosmetology License Required
- Receptionist or Front Desk Experience
- Friendly, dependable, and professional
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- English Required; Spanish is a plus
