Rockford has an immediate need for a full-time Senior Construction Accountant at our headquarters office in Columbus, Ohio. This role serves as an important resource to support general accounting duties for our single & multi-family construction and site development activities.
Job Responsibilities
General accounting tasks as directed, such as:
- Month-end close processes including cost allocations, journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis and reporting, and other month-end checklist tasks.
- Recording of house closings and assisting with all accounts payable activities as needed
- Assisting and/or leading quarterly and annual financial statement preparation for Rockford Homes and our numerous other multi-family entities.
Project accounting duties to support single and multi-family land development and construction activities from start to finish, such as:
o Job/Phase costing, budget establishment, and projection updates.
o Multi-family project progress billings to 3rd party owners, banks, etc.
o Facilitating the processing of cash receipts & payment of sub-contractors.
o Property level accounting for in-service/completed multi-family projects.
- Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer to create and standardize financial reporting, cost and budget analysis, and analytical benchmarking.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, maximize efficiencies, and improve profitability.
Job Requirements
- Creativity, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization and as part of a core accounting team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; understanding of the procedures, concepts, and practices of accounting & financial analysis.
- Minimum 5 years of general accounting experience, preferably in the homebuilding, construction, or property management industries.
- Minimum 2 years of project level accounting experience (i.e. job costing, A/R billings, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems -- Mark Systems and/or Viewpoint experience a major plus.
- Self-motivation with a strong sense of urgency and “whatever it takes” mentality.

- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
