Terms and Conditions: School-year calendar. Daily, as-needed basis
FLSA Status: Exempt
Rate of Pay: By the Period (8 total periods in a day): $30.00
Regular school hours: 8:00am - 3:10pm.
Long-Term Daily Rate (After 20 days on same assignment):
$250.00 retroactive to the first day.

Oak Park and River Forest High School, or OPRF, is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park, IL, a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district, with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts, River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses, a variety of programs for students with special needs, 103 clubs and activities, and 34 competitive sports. We prepare our students well for post-secondary success, with an average ACT composite score of 24 and a 96% graduation rate.

Summary:
Oak Park and River Forest High School is looking for substitute teachers in various subject areas. Substitutes report to the high school ready to perform the functions as outlined by the teacher's lesson plan.
Qualifications:
1. Valid Illinois Substitute License or Professional Educator's License(preferred)
2. Strong interpersonal skills.
3. Strong organizational skills.
4. Flexibility to substitute for various subject areas.
5. Availability to work on a regular basis.
6. Subbing/classroom experience is preferred
All guest teachers must pass an Illinois State Police and FBI background check (at the District's expense) and must complete a physical exam (at the employee's expense either completed within 90 days prior to the starting date or first 30 days after the start of employment).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Arrive on time according to the workday hours published in the Guest Teacher Handbook to check in, review lesson plans and prepare for the day.

Monitor, observe and report student behavior according to OPRFHS policies and procedures.

Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures (including classroom management techniques) for the school and classroom to which assigned.

Follow regular teacher's lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all students within the assigned classroom and appropriately respond to all emergency situations.

May require traveling to multiple classrooms based on assignments.

Taking and submitting student attendance promptly and accurately at the start of each period.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
