KEY REQUIREMENTS-
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, public administration or a related field.

Two years of probation, supervision or criminal case management experience

Have and maintain a valid Class "E" Florida Driver's License, with an acceptable driving record, within (10) days of hire

Ability to obtain and maintain NCIC/FCIC certification

SUMMARY
The probation supervisor performs professional work as a "working supervisor", assisting in all areas of the Probation Department. The probation supervisor works closely with the deputy criminal division director/probation in order to attain the highest level of quality in the daily work processes. The probation supervisor must develop strong working relationships with members of the Judiciary, offices of the State Attorney, Public Defender, Department of Corrections, treatment providers, Clerk of Court employees and other related agencies and the public.
Primary responsibilities of a Probation Supervisor include the following: (1) Staff Supervision and Leadership; (2) Case Flow Management; (3) Quality Assurance; and (4) Other Duties as Assigned
The hours for this supervisor position are Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm and may be modified at the discretion of the criminal division director or deputy criminal division director based on operational needs.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
(1) Staff Supervision and Leadership

Supervise and mentor staff, providing leadership and developing staff

Monitor training, work performance, conduct, and leave for staff
-
Take charge, effectively delegate tasks and direct or coordinate work assignments for staff, anticipate the needs and make necessary adjustments within unit within a timely manner
-
Provide, schedule, and oversee training for new employees assigned to his or her unit beyond the initial orientation period
-
Hold monthly staff meetings, discuss policies and procedures to ensure full understanding and solicit feedback.

Provide or coordinate additional training as needed to ensure all new or updated policies and procedures and work performance expectations are understood.
-
Prepare performance objectives, continuously monitoring and documenting work performance and conducting performance evaluations annually
-
Conduct independent investigations or assessments when appropriate and document accordingly
-
Maintain working files for assigned staff and conduct quarterly reviews of each file
-
Conduct officer interviews and make recommendations for employment actions
-
Continuously monitor and arrange for adequate coverage and oversight of his or her assigned unit. This includes providing direct assistance as needed and coverage while on planned leave

Distribute work assignments

Maintain a working knowledge of all officer activities

Assist in preparation and updating of policies and procedures
-
Collect, review, and approve timesheets and leave requests
-
Assist in the development and/or enhancement of databases
-
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual statistics
-
Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
-
Investigate and resolve problems, complaints, and disputes in person or by telephone, in accordance with established department policies and procedures

Coordinate and communicate as needed with other departments, agencies, and the public

Serve as a liaison with the Judiciary, offices of the State Attorney, Public Defender, and the Clerk of Court to ensure quality assurance
-
Responsible for overall monitoring and tracking case compliance
Conduct ongoing case review and quality assurance checks to ensure comprehensive case notes are entered and all case tracking is accurate
Observe and assess officers’ court attendance
Assist with ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and compliance tracking
(4) Other Duties as Assigned
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS NEEDED/BACKUP
Case Supervision

Prepare case files and review all associated paperwork

Provide defendants with an orientation to the program and requirements and review required paperwork

Prepare reporting plans
-
Document case notes into Odyssey databases
-
Conduct on-going supervision of caseload, tracking case from inception through closure
-
Enforce court order or agreement and special conditions, including treatment and evaluation referrals
-
Follow up with treatment providers as necessary
-
Provide notification of non-compliance to the court
-
Submit warrants, violation reports, extensions and status reports
-
Focus on improving success rates through additional case management contacts
-
Implement and further develop reporting procedures
-
Conduct drug and alcohol screens
Court Functions

Attend court as assigned

Provide updates and case management functions for the court
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The probation supervisor is responsible for supervising day-to-day operations and activities for the Probation Department.
