Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
The Substitute Teacher provides instructional support and classroom supervision in the absence of the regular teacher. This position is responsible for maintaining a positive learning environment, implementing lesson plans, managing student behavior, and supporting the academic, spiritual, and social development of students while upholding the mission and values of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School.
- Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the regular classroom teacher.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.
- Supervise students throughout the school day, including during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, and recess as assigned.
- Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies and expectations.
- Encourage student participation and engagement in learning activities.
- Communicate relevant information regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities to the regular teacher and school administration.
- Follow school procedures, policies, and emergency protocols.
- Support the Catholic mission and values of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, and school matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or school administration.
- High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Valid substitute teaching certification or ability to meet diocesan and state requirements, as applicable.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different grade levels and classroom environments.
- Dependable, flexible, and professional in appearance and conduct.
- Supportive of the mission, values, and teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and parents.
