We are seeking an experienced Landscape Equipment Mechanic with a strong background in 2-cycle and small engine repair to join our growing team. This position is primarily responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the landscaping equipment our crews depend on every day, as well as performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on company trucks.
The ideal candidate is highly skilled in troubleshooting equipment issues, works efficiently with minimal supervision, and takes pride in keeping equipment and vehicles operating safely and reliably.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial landscape equipment, including but not limited to:
- String trimmers
- Edgers
- Hedge trimmers
- Leaf blowers
- Chainsaws
- Walk-behind mowers
- Stand-on mowers
- Zero-turn mowers
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs on 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines
- Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
- Replace and repair carburetors, ignition systems, fuel systems, starters, clutches, belts, and related components
Perform routine maintenance and light repairs on company vehicles, including:
- Oil changes
- Brake replacement
- Tire repairs and replacements
- Battery replacement
- Fluid checks and maintenance
- Minor mechanical repairs and troubleshooting
- Inspect vehicles for safety and operational concerns
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
- Order and manage parts inventory as needed
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and operating efficiently
- Communicate equipment and vehicle repair needs with management
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2+ years of experience repairing commercial landscaping equipment
- Strong experience with 2-cycle engine diagnostics and repair (required)
- Experience with small engine repair and preventative maintenance programs
- Experience performing routine maintenance and light mechanical repairs on pickup trucks and light-duty fleet vehicles
- Ability to diagnose mechanical, fuel, ignition, and electrical issues efficiently
- Knowledge of commercial landscape brands such as Echo, Exmark, Toro, or similar equipment
- Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical work in a shop environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Ford fleet trucks
- Experience repairing commercial mowers and hydraulic systems
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Experience with skid steers or compact equipment
