Position Overview
We are seeking an entrepreneurial, highly organized Investment Banking Analyst living in the New York Metropolitan area to join our team in a hybrid capacity with a flexible schedule of 20 to 40 hours per week. This role is distinct from traditional rigid banking structures, offering an entry-level hourly path that requires a unique blend of analytical rigor, sell-side transaction execution, and proactive investor outreach. The ideal candidate has a strong finance or economics background, exceptional organization skills, and the confidence to drive outbound sales channels. You will build financial models, craft institutional marketing materials, and directly manage outreach to private equity groups and family offices to maximize value for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Family Office & Investor Communications
- Research, identify, and profile target family offices, funds, institutional investors private equity firms, and family offices.
- Execute structured outreach campaigns via phone and email to explain our portfolio companies to family office direct-investment teams and private equity professionals.
- Manage and update the firm’s deal pipeline and CRM to track prospective engagement and feedback.
- Position the merchant bank's unique co-investment capabilities during investor conversations where applicable.
- Sell-Side Transaction Execution
- Build and maintain detailed corporate financial models, including discounted cash flow (DCF), leveraged buyout (LBO), and public/precedent transaction comparables.
- Analyze client financial data to identify and articulate key investment highlights and value-creation drivers.
- Draft institutional-grade marketing documents, including Teasers, Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs), and management presentations.
- Work with portfolio company management to develop presentations and practice presentation skills
- Manage virtual data rooms (VDRs) and coordinate complex due diligence processes with investment banks and funds.
- Market Intelligence & Process Management
- Conduct deep-dive industry research to track macroeconomic trends, sector disruptions, and valuation multiples within target industries in Southeast Asia.
- Maintain flawless operational control over multiple active portfolio companies and deal workstreams simultaneously.
- Prepare briefing materials for investors, family offices and active private equity for senior leadership in portfolio companies.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a highly quantitative field of study.
- Experience: 0–2 years of experience in investment banking, corporate development, merchant banking, or financial sales outreach.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (financial modeling, valuation formulas) and PowerPoint. Experience with financial platforms (Capital IQ, PitchBook), Claude, ChatGPT and CRM databases is preferred.
- Core Capabilities:
- Flawless organizational and project management skills with strict attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; absolute comfort cold-calling or emailing high-net-worth ecosystems and institutional investors.
- Solid grasp of core accounting principles, financial statements, and mid-market valuation dynamics.
- Attributes: High emotional intelligence, absolute discretion when handling confidential client data, resilience in a sales-heavy environment, and a strong work ethic.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
