Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Groundsman role based in Gainesville, FL. The Groundsman supports tree care operations by assisting climbers and equipment operators, setting up job sites, and maintaining a safe work environment. Daily tasks include dragging and chipping brush, cutting and stacking wood, operating basic hand and power tools, and helping with cleanup of job sites. The role involves loading and unloading equipment, managing ropes and rigging from the ground, and following directions to support tree trimming, removal, and other services. The Groundsman is expected to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, adhere to all safety protocols, and contribute to a positive, respectful team culture.
Starting Pay: $18 / hour
Qualifications
- Knowledge of trees and basic tree care practices, with the ability to learn species identification and safe work practices around trees.
- Experience or certification related to groundworks, including safe operation of hand tools, small machinery, and job site setup.
- Landscaping skills such as debris cleanup, basic pruning support, and maintaining neat, orderly job sites.
- CSCS or CSCS Card (or equivalent safety/construction site certification) is preferred for demonstrating safety awareness and site compliance.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, dragging, and standing for extended periods in outdoor conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety, reliable attendance, and clear communication with crew members and supervisors.
- Willingness to learn, follow directions, and develop skills in arboriculture and tree care; prior tree service experience is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; eligibility to operate company vehicles is an advantage.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
