Carver County is looking for a dynamic candidate to fill a temporary vacancy in our Child and Family unit. Under the direction of the Child and Family Supervisor, this temporary position will assist in supporting the Foster Care Licensing team and other child welfare programs. This position will include communication with adult and child foster care providers, assisting in the relicensing process and assist with efforts to support child foster care recruitment. This position will be part of a team that uses Signs of Safety and Family Finding methods to support child protection and children's mental health social workers find relative and non-relative placement options and other ongoing supports for children. Additional tasks may include supervising family visits, processing records requests, transporting clients, or other similar tasks to support the Child and Family Department. With additional approvals, the temporary position may be extended from January 2027 to early April 2027 in the role of a Child Protection Assessment Social Worker. This role would focus on child maltreatment related assessments and investigations to include assessing safety, planning for short-term and long-term safety and wellbeing of children. This includes working with other internal and external professionals to address the needs and strengthening families.
This position will work approximately 30 hours per week. Hours are flexible between 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with the possibility of some evening or weekends for special events.
