Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Utility Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and operating a wide range of utility and heavy equipment to ensure the safe and efficient functioning of water systems, wastewater systems, underground utilities, and electrical infrastructure. Your expertise will help keep our outdoor work environments safe, reliable, and compliant with industry standards. Duties
- Operate machinery including lawn mowers, weed eaters, sewer jetter, backhoes, to perform repair, and maintenance tasks.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on water/wastewater systems, underground utilities, to ensure optimal performance.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools for repairs, and equipment maintenance.
- Locate underground utilities using utility locating equipment to prevent damage during excavation or construction activities.
- Engage in manual handling and heavy lifting.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, safety inspections, and operational logs.
- Support on-call coverage for emergency repairs or maintenance outside regular hours to ensure continuous service reliability.
- Follow strict safety protocols related to high voltage and low voltage electrical systems; ensure compliance with all safety regulations during outdoor work environments.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as backhoes.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) of utility equipment.
- Familiarity with electrical systems including high voltage and low voltage wiring; experience with electrical cabling is highly preferred.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools for various maintenance tasks.
- Experience working in the utilities sector or related outdoor infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of underground utilities detection techniques to prevent damage during excavation activities.
- Capable of heavy lifting and manual handling in challenging outdoor conditions while maintaining safety standards.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to high voltage electricity, water systems, pipeline construction, and underground utilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to maintenance issues; ability to work independently or as part of a team in outdoor settings.

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
