Richmond Professional Lab is a commercial photofinishing lab located at 7545 Midlothian Turnpike. We edit, print, and ship photo-related orders for over 2500 professional photography studios operating in all 50 states. We maintain a broad product line, which includes small and large format photographic prints, canvas wraps, vinyl banners, t-shirts, holiday cards, ornaments, and mugs. WE ARE SEEKING TO FILL AN AREA LEAD POSITION IN OUR PACKAGING DEPARTMENT:
We are looking for an Area Lead to help with the overall successful functionality of the production lab. We work in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about finding ideal candidates to help our organization succeed. Our goal is to create a motivated and positive workspace with associates who are eager to learn and grow. We maintain a staff of over 100 permanent associates, plus as many as 200 seasonal associates depending on the time of year. Our business is highly cyclical, with two busy seasons per year – spring and fall. The Area Lead position is considered a management role, reporting to the Packaging Performance Supervisor and assisting with mentoring, guiding, delegating, and supporting all Permanent Part-Time and Seasonal Associates within the area. The Area Lead will aid the Packaging Performance Supervisor in the overall operation of the production floor, strategy development, and personnel evaluation. We’ll look for you to roll up your sleeves and truly get involved in the production process, including necessary troubleshooting and project improvement. Job Responsibilities:
- Take the lead in Volume Packaging operations, setting the standard for quality and efficiency while ensuring every workflow follows company SOPs.
- Plan and prioritize daily area goals, manage workflows to feed work to staff, and allocate team resources to meet tight deadlines.
- Inspire and guide your team - oversee daily tasks, provide hands-on training, and support associates in developing new skills and achieving success.
- Check quality and accuracy, ensuring every product meets Richmond Professional Lab’s high standards and client expectations.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement, streamlining workflows, troubleshooting equipment, and collaborating across departments to keep operations running smoothly.
- Support and mentor associates through hands-on coaching and cross-training in Volume Packaging and other Operational zones, fostering confidence and consistency.
- Lead with accountability and integrity, guiding associates to meet area, departmental, and company standards while addressing performance issues directly and fostering a culture of responsibility and respect.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
- Able to work both independently and within a team, generating results with general/minimal guidance from management.
- High attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills are a must.
- Must be flexible, innovative, and comfortable in setting your own priorities.
- Proven track record leading teams to accomplish outlined goals and objectives.
- This is a 2nd Shift position, with the schedule being Monday-Friday, 3:00pm - 11:00pm.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma required; further education preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant leadership or management.
To be effective in this role, the applicant must be willing and capable of addressing the needs of the area and department in terms of both technical components and leadership components.
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
