We are currently seeking:
A Utility Maintenance Mechanic, who, under general supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled labor in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water Distribution/Collection systems, Water/Wastewater treatment plants, and according to job specifications and technical codes.
Your responsibilities will include:

Performing a variety of semi-skilled labor in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution and collection systems, sewer systems, lift stations, pumps, utility meters, and other components.

Working independently, and makes appropriate decisions based on work experience; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills.

Performing maintenance and repairs within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; notifying supervisors of repair problems beyond the scope of authority.

Identifying and repairing leaks or breaks in the distribution and collection system; clearing obstructions; replacing and repairing pipes, hydrants and valves; locating and marking sewer and water lines.

Operating and maintaining a variety of specialized equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; identifying and reporting mechanical problems requiring additional repair.

Ensuring that safety rules and regulations are followed; utilizing proper safety precautions in all work performed; reporting safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations.

Ensuring that hazardous materials are cleaned up and stored according to City policy and procedures; responding to emergencies as needed and performing tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection during emergencies.

May coordinate work of maintenance crew and assign specific tasks to crew members.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, rotating on call position that may include holidays or weekends.

Regular and timely attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent; and two years' experience in the maintenance of infrastructure systems, preferably with the City of San Angelo; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:

Must possess a valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record.

Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.

Must obtain a Commercial Driver License, Class B, within six months of hire.
-
Must obtain Class D - Water / Wastewater Operator license from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) within one year of hire.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:

Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
-
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
-
Ability to work around extreme noise and mechanical, electrical, and other conditions that may be adverse.
-
Required to perform moderate physical work, and lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
