Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Assistant General Manager to join our retail management team. This vital leadership role involves supporting the overall operations of the store, driving sales performance, and ensuring exceptional customer service. The Assistant General Manager will work closely with the General Manager to oversee daily store functions, manage staff, and uphold company standards. Duties
- Assist in managing daily store operations, including sales, inventory control, and customer service excellence
- Support recruiting efforts by participating in interviewing and onboarding new team members
- Supervise and motivate retail sales teams to achieve sales targets and deliver outstanding customer experiences
- Oversee employee orientation, training & development initiatives to foster a knowledgeable and engaged workforce
- Handle payroll processing, bookkeeping, cash handling, and POS system management accurately and efficiently
- Manage inventory levels, stock replenishment, merchandising, pricing strategies, and stockroom organization
- Ensure compliance with operational policies, safety standards, and store procedures while supervising shift management
- Facilitate effective communication across teams through managerial communication skills and organizational oversight
Experience
- Proven experience as an Assistant Manager or in a supervisory role within the retail industry, particularly in grocery or general merchandise stores
- Demonstrated success in retail sales management, team supervision, and operational oversight
- Strong background in inventory management, purchasing, pricing strategies, and POS systems operation
- Excellent negotiation skills coupled with bilingual or multilingual abilities to serve diverse customer bases effectively
- Experience with payroll administration, bookkeeping, cash handling, and basic math skills essential for daily financial tasks
- Skilled in employee orientation, training & development programs, and leadership within a retail setting
- Familiarity with retail industry standards for customer service, merchandising, stock management, and sales techniques
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently through effective time management and organizational skills
