n-House Counsel – Real Estate Investment Company
Compensation: $100,000–$120,000 annually

About the Position
We are seeking an experienced In-House Counsel to join a medium-sized real estate investment company with an active portfolio of commercial and residential properties throughout Nevada.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in real estate law, complex business matters, contracts, civil litigation, landlord/tenant law, and dispute resolution. This position will serve as a key legal resource for the company and will work closely with ownership and management to proactively identify legal risks, resolve disputes, protect company assets, and support ongoing real estate operations and acquisitions.
The successful candidate must be licensed to practice law in the State of Nevada and have strong familiarity with legal matters and court procedures in both Clark County and Washoe County.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing legal counsel and strategic guidance to company ownership and management.
- Handle complex real estate and business law matters.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret a wide range of business and real estate contracts and agreements.
- Advise on property acquisitions, dispositions, leases, development, renovations, operations, and other real estate transactions.
- Handle and oversee civil and business litigation, including disputes involving the company, properties, vendors, contractors, tenants, and other parties.
- Manage contract disputes, business disputes, and real estate-related claims.
- Provide legal guidance regarding landlord/tenant matters, lease enforcement, notices, tenant disputes, and related proceedings.
- Develop strategies for exposure mitigation and risk management.
- Identify potential legal risks before they develop into costly disputes or litigation.
- Work with outside counsel when specialized litigation or legal matters require additional resources.
- Review and advise on vendor, contractor, property management, employment, and other business agreements.
- Assist with compliance with applicable Nevada laws and local requirements.
- Conduct legal research and provide practical, business-oriented recommendations.
- Represent or coordinate representation of the company in negotiations, disputes, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation as appropriate.
- Maintain a proactive approach to protecting the company's assets and minimizing legal exposure.
Required Qualifications
- Active Nevada Bar license in good standing.
- Significant experience practicing Nevada real estate and business law.
- Strong experience with civil litigation and business litigation.
- Experience handling contract disputes and complex contractual matters.
- Experience with landlord/tenant law and real estate disputes.
- Familiarity with Clark County and Washoe County courts, procedures, and applicable case law.
- Strong understanding of real estate transactions and property operations.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate legal and financial exposure.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, research, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide practical legal advice in a fast-paced business environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience representing real estate investment companies, property owners, developers, or property management companies.
- Experience with multifamily, commercial, hospitality, or mixed-use real estate.
- Experience handling disputes involving tenants, contractors, vendors, property managers, and business partners.
- Experience managing litigation from initial dispute through resolution.
- Experience working directly with business owners and executive management.
- Strong knowledge of Nevada landlord/tenant statutes and real estate regulations.
