Job Summary
We are looking for an energetic teacher/tutor who enjoys working with students of all ages. Retired math teachers highly valued! Experience is a plus, but not required. On the job, you will have fun with games and interactive activities while reinforcing math concepts. We have students from Preschool age through High School. Let us know the levels you are comfortable with. Hours will build gradually, but sometimes quite rapidly.
Responsibilities
- Develop customized lesson plans tailored to each student’s unique learning needs and goals, covering various math topics.
- Deliver engaging tutoring sessions using effective teaching strategies and learning technologies to enhance understanding and retention of mathematical concepts.
- Assess students’ current knowledge levels through informal evaluations and adapt instructional approaches accordingly.
- Foster a supportive environment that encourages questions, critical thinking, and active participation during sessions.
- Track student progress regularly and communicate feedback to students and guardians regularly.
- Maintain organized records of tutoring sessions, student achievements, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other educators or specialists when necessary to support students with special education needs or additional learning challenges.
Skills
- Strong expertise in mathematics. Knowledge up through Algebra is preferred.
- Proficiency with learning technology tools such as virtual whiteboards, educational software platforms, and online communication tools.
- Excellent tutoring skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and patiently.
- Classroom management skills to create a positive and focused learning environment—whether in person or virtual.
- Strong computer skills for managing schedules, tracking progress, and utilizing educational resources effectively.
- Experience working with children
- Knowledge of classroom experience including early childhood education or preschool experience is a plus for working with younger students.
- Familiarity with special education practices to support learners with unique needs is a plus.
Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
