Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Receptionist to join our ambulatory surgery center team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment. Your expertise in medical administrative support, electronic health records management, and excellent customer service will help facilitate smooth daily operations. Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional front desk customer service and phone etiquette.
- Schedule patient appointments using EMR
- Verify insurance information, assist with health insurance inquiries, and process medical collections accurately.
- Manage patient check-in/check-out procedures, ensuring all documentation review and data entry are completed precisely.
- Maintain and organize medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Handle phone communication professionally, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages when necessary.
- Support medical billing processes by assisting with documentation review, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare claims processing.
- Perform clerical duties including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing electronic health records (EHR systems).
- Assist with clinical documentation review related to care plans and medical records management to ensure accuracy.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth patient flow and office operations in a fast-paced environment.
- During downtime, assist with other tasks assigned by the nursing manager.
Skills
- Proven experience in medical office management or healthcare administrative support within a clinic or outpatient setting.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems
- Familiarity with medical billing procedures including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare claims processing.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively on the phone and in person.
- Bilingual abilities are highly preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and scheduling tasks.
- Knowledge of health insurance policies, health information management standards, and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and data entry.
- Strong organizational skills with clerical experience such as filing, faxing, scanning, and managing medical records.
- Experience working in dental clinics or ambulatory surgery centers is a plus but not required.
