Job Summary:
Rhino is seeking an Equipment Operator who understands that excavation is a team effort. While this position requires operating excavators, skid loaders, and other equipment safely and efficiently, the successful candidate will also serve as an active member of the excavation crew. This role requires a hands-on individual who is willing to get out of the machine, work in trenches, assist with pipe installation and grading, help maintain a clean and safe jobsite, and do whatever is necessary to help the team successfully complete the project.
Responsibilities require you to:
· THINK
o Understand prints, schedule & scope of work
o Identifying hazards, concerns, cost/time saving ideas
· COMMUNICATE
o Communicate with Rhino leadership to determine tasks that need to be accomplished for the day.
o Communicate with the Rhino team so that everyone is focused on the days goals.
· OPERATE
o Use equipment with both efficiency and safety in mind understanding that equipment is a tool that supports the crew and project goals.
o Follow OSHA approved methods for digging, ditch work and equipment operation.
o Create a safe work site for everyone onsite
o Respect other subcontractors work and limit the amount of clean-up and repairs required
o Always have a plan in place for dirt, debris and stockpiles. We want to keep our sites clean.
o Perform daily maintenance on equipment being used.
· Participate with the Crew
o Function as an active member of the excavation crew.
o Willingly assist with trench work, backfill & compaction, pipe work, structure setting, grade checks, utility locating, site clean-up and other manual task.
o Work alongside the crew to maintain production goals, jobsite cleanliness and quality standards.
Abilities, Experience, Skills and Training:
· Knowledgeable of commercial & residential excavation
· 3years minimum experience running mini excavator and skid loader
· Knowledge base in PVC, Ductile Iron, Copper, RCP, SDR and metal/plastic corrugated pipe
· Understanding blueprints and site layout techniques
· Understanding underground utilities
· Knowledgeable of OSHA standards and willing to become OSHA Certified
· Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time in varied weather conditions
Company Expectations:
· Open to being a site lead in charge of small 2-3 man crew
· Ability to work 40-50 Hours per week
· Ability to communicate verbally and via technology
· Punctual, committed, and willing to learn.
· Ability to work independently, with self-motivation, yet function as a team player assisting the crew to achieve our company goals.
· Teachable and willing to learn new skills and methods to accomplish the work
· Willingness to travel and stay out of town if jobs are more than 1 ½ hours away.
Pay: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour
