Data Entry Specialist
Federal Contract | Alaska Region Enrollment Operations
We’re staffing a federal contract supporting the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Alaska Region Enrollment Office. This office processes Certificates of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) — official documents that determine eligibility for federal, tribal, and state programs for Alaska Native individuals. The work matters. It directly affects real people’s access to services they’re entitled to.
We need someone detail-obsessed, organized, and comfortable working within structured federal processes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Receiving, logging, and tracking incoming CDIB applications and all supporting documentation
- Reviewing applications for completeness against BIA standards and flagging deficiencies
- Entering applicant data into the enrollment database with high accuracy
- Maintaining both physical and electronic records in compliance with federal records management requirements
- Preparing applicant correspondence — status updates, deficiency notices, and determination letters
- Supporting genealogical document verification and fraud prevention checks
- Handling mail processing and front-desk intake operations
- Providing customer support to applicants navigating the CDIB process
What We’re Looking For
- Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail — errors here have real consequences for applicants
- Experience with records management, document processing, or administrative support in a government or regulated environment
- Comfortable with database systems and document tracking
- Ability to handle sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (PII) with discretion and full compliance
- Familiarity with federal agency processes or tribal enrollment is a plus, not a requirement
- Associates degree or equivalent work experience; GS-7 equivalent qualifications preferred
Why This Role
This is meaningful federal contract work with operational stability. You’re not processing widgets — you’re supporting Alaska Native individuals in accessing programs they qualify for. The BIA Alaska Region serves a unique mission, and this office is the front door to that mission.
